I Love one day crochet projects!! Not only is there faster satisfaction, it’s more likely to be finished rather then fall into the WIP list… Also great for last minute gifting..!!
I’d been think of this one for a while, and then when my sister posted a pic of her little one in his Mum’s beanie cos he’d grown out of his… There is a story behind the fox theme for my sisters family, but thats another story.
When I saw this perfect coloured soft burn orange yarn my mind was made up. I then found this pattern which was perfect and well written. Repeat Crafter Me – Fox Hat
And I just couldn’t help starting the next one…
Well it won’t be finished tonight, so I will continue on and hopefully it won’t end up on the WIP list xx
Bewdiful. You are such a clever girl. xx

I’m a knitter, but things like this really make me want to get into crochet.

I’m not much of a knitter, cannot do it without my Mum there to pick up my stitches…
Crochet is much faster and versatile. I find it very intuitive. You should try it!

Very cute. I can’t crochet, so I’m always amazed at what you can create with yarn.

Thank you! Our boy has mastered the “who me” look so maybe this hat will over-ride that and the real cheeky boy will shine through!

What an adorable hat. I have tried to teach myself how to crochet and still haven’t been able too. One day I’m hoping I can so I can make adorable hats but by then I’m sure my kids will be grown and I’ll be a grandma. Thanks for sharing your cute fox hat.

Once I get my mind around reading a crochet pattern I will be all over this! For now, I’ve got that huge pile of WIP you mentioned, thanks for reminding me…oh the shame! 🙂 Looks great. Hannah x

Done patterns are better written then others too I find Hannah. Crochet with all is flexibility and intuitive style, can be interpreted differently and therefore harder to write. Try making something (with spare yarn) just from a picture. You may find you do better without the restrictions of a pattern. Also, have you tried the graph patterns? Sometimes these can help, especially if you have both! Good luck and most importantly, Enjoy!

Hey that’s a good idea, I think I would be better at that actually, I’m a good make it up as you go along type of maker! Would knitting graph patterns work out the same for crochet or are the dimensions different?

hmm.. I’ve never used a knitting pattern, the thing with knitting is that its mostly single lines and crochet stitches have varying heights. So it may not work, but it may be a good start. I would always start with beanies, they are usually straight forward and fairly quick gratification.
Here’s a couple of places to start:

I might just give it a try as a basis for a pattern, then I can try and improvise if I see it isn’t working out 🙂 Thanks for the links, they are most helpful!
